TSTE84 - Digital Design Project

This course deals with practical aspects of efficient digital design. You get to learn how to analyze and optimize you design and how to run the backend part of the toolchain.

You are expected to know either VHDL or Verilog and basic digital design.

The course is given in English.

Lectures

There are a number of introductory lectures on the different steps of the design flow.

Laboratory work

In the labs you will implement and optimize a small digital block. You get to synthesize, check the timing report and analyze where the critical paths are. You also have to add tests to make sure that the design is operating correctly.

Project

The major part of the course will be to implement an optimized digital building block.

Course material

The course material is primarily found on the internet by searching. However, there are, naturally, lecture slides and a lab compendia provided.
