TSBB18 Embedded Perception Systems

General

This is a problem based project course, in which the students, organised into groups of 2–3 students, are tasked with controlling a camera based Lego sorting robot. The work is carried out in the form of three sub-projects, in which the students to a large extent individually find the resources necessary to solve the various tasks and problems they face in the projects. The groups are given regular supervision during the whole course.

Examination

The course has an examination component grade G/U, which refers to the project work with the three sub-projects carried out during the study period.

For the grade G/approved, each sub-project must be approved, which means that the group's camera/robot arm must work according to the requirements specification. After the last approved sub-project, the group must also present a concise written report with a user manual that describes the components of the various sub-projects & how they are implemented, and how they are used. The report is written and updated continuously during the course so that the examiner and supervisors can follow how the work is progressing. Details of this are given at the beginning of the course.

If any sub-project for a group does not meet the requirement specification, due to practical or theoretical obstacles that are outside the planned course scope, the supervisors and/or the examiner can reformulate the requirement specification. In that case, the group's report also needs to describe what does not work according to the original requirement specification and why.

The project group's report must be completed no later than 1 week after the project demonstration and the report must state how the work in the project group is distributed, i.e. who did what. All group participants must be clearly involved in all sub-projects and must be able to explain how the various components of the sub-projects work. If any project participant has not participated in the work in a satisfactory manner, that person may be failed while the other group members may be approved.
